IT Disaster Recovery Services & Business Continuity

Your dedicated team

We’ll allocate you a dedicated disaster recovery team to design your plan and step in if the worst happens.

Set the right goals

We’ll define the systems that are critical to your business and prioritise restoring them to maintain business continuity.

Continuous review

Every time your business changes, we’ll update your planned IT disaster recovery services to match.

Disaster Recovery Planning

Our IT Disaster Recovery Service (DR) plans set out how your organisation will get back access and functionality to its IT infrastructure after unforeseen setbacks like a fire, flood, power cut, cyber attack or pandemic.

When setting out your disaster recovery plan, we use our knowledge of your IT systems to advise you on what needs protecting, which data needs to be backed up and which operations need to be duplicated off-site.

We measure your risk

We begin by identifying the most likely risks – and then the less likely ones. We audit your infrastructure and your business or organisational needs, including your server requirements, your data, what you use it for and when. We also assess if your servers are vulnerable and whether you operate in a disaster-prone area.

We set disaster recovery goals

We define what our IT disaster recovery service team needs to get up and running immediately and what can wait. For example, an e-commerce company may need their website up and running as a priority whilst operational systems may be more important to a manufacturer.

This stage of our IT disaster recovery service includes clarifying your

  • Disaster Recovery Time Objective, in other words how quickly systems should be up and running after an incident, and your
  • Recovery Point Objective, which is the minimum of data you must not lose in a disaster.

We allocate your IT Disaster Recovery Services (DR) team

We allocate your team within our IT experts, and work with you to set up a working group to study which disaster recovery plan structure will prove most effective, selecting vendors and budgets for the different options. There is always a play-off between safety and budget, so we will help you make an informed choice.

Activate and update

We monitor constantly and stay ahead of possible risks such as evolving cyber threats. We will keep on schedule with your backups, and store a copy of your disaster recovery plan safely off-site. The plan for your organisation’s IT disaster recovery services plan does not stand still. We will regularly test for new vulnerabilities and other risks.

IT Disaster Recovery Services: How it works

1

We identify your risks

We'll spend a day on your premises. The beginning of our Disaster Recovery (DR) planning is to identify the most likely risks to your business, and the implications of each of them.
2

We define the goals

Our successful IT disaster recovery (DR) plan for you will identify and prioritise your mission-critical services. The other parts of your network and data will be restored in descending order of urgency.
3

Your Flywheel DR Team will monitor and review your plan

Each time your business or school changes, your disaster recovery plan may need updating. Your allocated disaster recovery experts at Flywheel will make sure your plan stays up to date, because you never know when you'll need it.

Case studies

Our DR Client's Headquarters Burns Down

When a fire broke out at the headquarters of our client, SHS Handling Solutions, the company expected to see their on-site server melt in flames. This is an e-commerce company with a warehouse full of costly equipment.

Luckily heroic firefighters rescued the server, and Flywheel’s IT disaster recovery services team spent Saturday morning reconnecting it. We reconfigured the company’s network and got all services back online the same day as the fire.

We spent the rest of the weekend getting everything set up for the company to work almost as normal on Monday morning at a totally new location.

Our Disaster Recovery Plan Update Project Helps a School Save Money

Rugby Free School, which is part of the Learning Today Leading Tomorrow Multi Academy Trust, realised its disaster recovery plans were falling out of date. We worked with the strategic IT Manager to help the trust redefine its disaster recovery requirements. As part of the improvements, we delivered an enhanced school backup solution for a lower budget.
